I printed a small run of my Ap’teryx T-shirts a few months ago and people seemed pretty hyped on them. That first batch sold out quickly, so I’m getting another limited run printed in both black and white colourways.
There’ll be a black tee with a white logo, and a white tee with a black logo. The shirts are printed locally on AS Colour Staple tees. Sizes Available: Small, Medium, Large, XL (check out sizing here)
The t-shirts cost $60 NZD (plus shipping), and I’ll be donating $5 from every shirt sold to Capital Kiwi to support their epic kiwi conservation efforts around the Wellington hills.
In case you didn’t realise, Apteryx is the genus name for the kiwi family and roughly translates to “wingless” in Latin. The Kiwi Nui, or North Island brown kiwi, is Apteryx mantelli, while the Tokoeka, or Southern brown kiwi, is Apteryx australis.
There are five recognised species of kiwi:
- Great spotted kiwi / Roroa: Apteryx maxima
- Little spotted kiwi / Kiwi pukupuku: Apteryx owenii
- Rowi / Okarito brown kiwi: Apteryx rowi
- Southern brown kiwi / Tokoeka: Apteryx australis
- North Island brown kiwi / Kiwi Nui: Apteryx mantelli
